What is Medical Campus Outreach Philadelphia?

 

Medical Campus Outreach (MCO) grew out of one man's vision for Jesus Christ to be exalted on the campus of the Medical College of Georgia in order to bless the nations with the Gospel in the coming years. He was joined by a few others in praying that God would use MCO to raise up men and women leaders for the health professions who would glorify God through their lives and careers. Since that time, God has raised up MCO teams in cities beyond Augusta such as Charleston, SC, Nashville, Boston and Philadelphia.

 

The MCO Philadelphia Team, which became a ministry of Tenth Presbyterian Church in January of 1996, has had the privilege of knowing God more deeply through relationships and ministry opportunities. At various campuses, MCO staff members encourage and equip student leaders and join in the rich fellowship around the Word of God. The MCO Team also networks with the student leaders to plan monthly city-wide fellowship meetings and an annual regional Winter Conference to foster vision and cross-campus relationships that further God's work in the city.

 

Another area in which MCO seeks to develop leaders in the health care professions is through campus Bible studies and fellowships, city-wide meetings, retreats, and Summer Medical Institute (SMI). Check out one of Philadelphia campus fellowships.

 

Tenth Healthcare Fellowship (THF)

One of MCO's priorities is helping the healthcare fellowship at Tenth Presbyterian, to grow and flourish. THF is open to any member of the healthcare profession. We meet the first Sunday of every month at 12:45 pm for lunch, a time of fellowship and a speaker on a medically and spiritually relevant topic. We hope to start a medical outreach to Philadelphia through this group. On the fifth Sunday of each month (if there is one) we also meet at a local restaurant for a time of fellowship.
