early morning run or a little extra QT!)

Thursdays: D-Group meetings - focus
is on your personal growth and accountability in the context of
a
small group setting which you will be a part of for the month.
Fridays: Institute - One of the
Valley Baptist physicians or a guest speaker will talk about
various aspects of using medicine to serve God.
Project Management (this
is an opportunity to plan for outreaches, organize outreach
supplies, meet with your project management team etc.)
Lunch
Depart for outreach
Arrive at the site and set up for a
clinic or door-to-door outreach
Outreach: going door-to-door or helping out in
the clinic
Door-to-door, you’ll have an assigned section of the colonia
(neighborhood), and you’ll be in teams of two students with
a translator. You’ll offer basic health screenings (blood
pressure and sugar checks). During this time you’ll have an
opportunity to talk with families, share the Gospel, and pray
with them.
In the clinic, you may fill any number of roles including
registration, triage, or medical team. The clinic will be
staffed by residents from Valley Baptist. This is a great
opportunity to provide more extensive health screenings and also
to share the Gospel.
Dinner – boxed dinner on site
Wrap-up on site, pack up the
clinic supplies, and head back to home base (VBMEC)
Arrive home
Bed! Get some rest for the
next day.
There’s plenty of time for a game of
pool volleyball or basketball, a late night run to Dairy Queen,
or impromptu musical worship. Every day is different at SMI, but
this gives you a general idea of the daily schedule.
